Cui Jie
Born in 1976, Beijing, China

Life is wandering between dreams and reality. In my pictures, I combine everyday objects with animals seen free in nature alongside rapidly growing plants. I create a non-realistic space with conflict to express my desire for harmony between restraint and freedom, reality and dream, human and nature; the expression of modern meeting classic. I use grease paint as the medium of my work. The quality of the oil I use is like cheese in quality, giving me great joy with every stroke during the creation process. When you spend time with these paintings, each moment could be new. With timelessness, you can not only obtain the meaning of my work but also enjoy the process of painting and the elegance of creation through each intricate stroke.
